Asante Kotoko head coach, Karim Zito, has acknowledged the challenge ahead as his side prepares to face Medeama SC in a pivotal Ghana Premier League Matchday 33 encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 1.

With the 2024/25 league season drawing to a close, the Porcupine Warriors, currently third on the table with 55 points, are aiming for a must-win result to stay in contention for the title with just two matches remaining.

Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the weekend’s clash, Coach Zito admitted that Medeama, despite their current position, possess the quality to cause problems and will not be underestimated.

“They will come all out,” Zito said. “I know Medeama SC, and I know the quality they have. The moment doesn’t favour them, but I know they have good players with a good sense of judgement.”

He went on to commend Medeama’s brand of football, warning fans to expect an engaging and intense fixture.

“When it comes to consistency, Medeama also stands tall. They try to keep the ball, so when you see them playing, you will enjoy them, which tells you that the match will be very competitive,” the Kotoko boss added.

Kotoko will rely on home support and recent form to give them the edge as they seek to close the gap on league leaders Nations FC. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m. at the Baba Yara Stadium.
