Jonas Adjetey has wasted little time settling into life at VfL Wolfsburg, drawing positive feedback from head coach Daniel Bauer following his first training sessions with the Bundesliga outfit.

The 22-year-old Ghana international recently completed a move from FC Basel in a deal worth around €10 million, signing a long-term contract that keeps him at Wolfsburg until 2030. Despite being new to the environment, Adjetey has already impressed with his approach and willingness to learn.

“Jonas has presented himself very well in training,” Bauer said, pointing to the defender’s open mindset and ability to quickly grasp the team’s tactical ideas. The coach added that Adjetey, alongside fellow new arrival Jeanuël Belocian, absorbed instructions from team meetings and translated them effectively onto the training pitch.

Wolfsburg are currently stretched in central defence, with Jenson Seelt sidelined through injury and Moritz Jenz unavailable due to suspension. While Konstantinos Koulierakis and Denis Vavro remain the preferred pairing for now, Adjetey has emerged as the leading alternative and is already knocking on the door for a starting role.

Bauer, however, urged patience, describing centre-back as a “sensitive position” that demands strong communication and well-timed movements.
