Azerbaijani top-flight outfit Asta Mingachevir have confirmed the acquisition of Ghanaian forward Jonah Attuquaye ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 25-year-old attacker joins the club on a season-long deal after parting ways with Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea. His move marks a swift return to Europe, having spent the first half of this year back in his home country.

Attuquaye had earlier featured in Latvia with FK Auda before returning to Ghana in January. He briefly rejoined Berekum Chelsea, the club where he first launched his professional career in the Premier League, before securing the transfer to Mingachevir.

His profile in Ghanaian football rose significantly during his three-year spell with Legon Cities between 2020 and 2023, where his pace and attacking flair made him one of the standout performers in the domestic league.

Attuquaye is the second Ghanaian to join Mingachevir during the current window, linking up with former Ashantigold midfielder Kadiri Mohammed as the club looks to bolster its squad with African talent.

The winger has already made his competitive bow, featuring in the team’s opening league fixture against Sabail FK on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The transfer represents another step in Attuquaye’s career as he seeks to re-establish himself on the European stage while contributing to Mingachevir’s ambitions in the Azerbaijan Premier League.
