Injury Rules Out Ebenezer Annan from Black Stars’ World Cup Qualifiers
Ghanaian defender Ebenezer Annan has been ruled out of the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali after sustaining an injury setback.
The 23-year-old left-back is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks, ending hopes of a maiden call-up for the crucial double-header. Annan picked up the injury during Saint-Étienne’s Ligue 2 clash with US Boulogne, forcing him out of contention.
His absence is a setback for Ghana, who are seeking to secure maximum points in their bid to book a ticket to the World Cup to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Annan recently joined Saint-Étienne from Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, penning a three-year deal in the summer. He has quickly established himself as a promising addition to the French side, impressing with his defensive discipline and forward surges down the left flank.
Although sidelined, the defender is expected to rally behind his national teammates from afar as coach Otto Addo prepares to assemble a competitive squad for the qualifiers.
Ghana will be hoping to maintain momentum in the group, with victory over Chad and Mali crucial in keeping their qualification hopes alive.
