Ghana forward Inaki Williams has expressed satisfaction after making his long-awaited return to action for Athletic Bilbao following an extended spell on the sidelines.

The Black Stars attacker featured for the first time in nearly two months on Sunday, coming on as a substitute in Bilbao’s 2–0 away defeat to Celta Vigo in La Liga. Williams completed the entire second half, marking an important step in his recovery after being sidelined with an injury sustained in October.

The setback occurred during Athletic Bilbao’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Qarabag FK, a match the Spanish side won 3–1 at San Mamés. Since then, Williams had been unavailable for both club and country as he focused on regaining full fitness.

Reflecting on his comeback, the experienced forward admitted he was pleased to be back competing again.
“I felt good, growing into the game little by little. Despite the training, the most important thing is competing. I’m happy to be back and to be able to contribute as soon as possible,” Williams said after the match.

The 31-year-old has featured 13 times across all competitions in the 2025/26 campaign, scoring once so far.
