Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has voiced his frustration after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Samartex in their Week 6 Ghana Premier League encounter over the weekend.

The Mauves and Yellows narrowly escaped their first home defeat of the season in what turned out to be a pulsating contest at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

Samartex’s Awuah Dramani produced a moment of brilliance in the 39th minute when he struck from midfield to score a sensational goal, catching Medeama’s goalkeeper off his line. The Timber Giants looked on course for a famous away victory until Kingsley Braye rescued a point for the league leaders in stoppage time, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble to slot home from close range.

Speaking  after the game,  Tanko expressed disappointment over his team’s missed chances and poor first-half display.

“The first half was not really good. We didn’t keep the ball well but we were better in the second half, we created chances but couldn’t make good use of them,” he lamented.

Tanko also praised Awuah Dramani’s stunning strike but admitted his team needed to be more clinical.

“Awuah scored a nice goal, saw our goalkeeper was out and caught him by surprise. They didn’t create much but made good use of that one,” he added.

Despite dropping two points at home, Medeama SC remain top of the Ghana Premier League table with 13 points. They will next host newly promoted Swedru All Blacks in Matchday 7 as they seek to return to winning ways.
