Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his disappointment following his side’s narrow 1-0 loss to Hearts of Oak in their Matchday 26 encounter in the Ghana Premier League.

The Mauve and Yellow outfit suffered a setback at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, where a brilliant long-range strike from Raphael Amponsah proved decisive for the home side.

The win ended Hearts of Oak’s four-match winless streak, while handing Medeama their second straight defeat to the Phobians this season.

Speaking in the aftermath, Ibrahim Tanko described the loss as difficult to accept, given the nature of the goal and his team’s overall performance.

“I think it is a very painful defeat, looking at how the game went,” the Medeama boss said.

“We conceded a goal that we normally don’t concede. After the goal, we came back very strongly, we had all the chances.”

“I think that is the only chance they had in the first half — it’s not even a chance. A long shot and they score, but in terms of performance, I think they did very well, and definitely we are not happy about the result,” he added.

The result leaves Medeama in sixth place on the league table with 38 points.
