Ghana-born forward Daniel Sosah has shared his excitement after helping his adopted country, Niger, secure a landmark victory over Ghana in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Sosah, who was born to a Beninese father and a Ghanaian mother but naturalized for Niger, played a key role in the 2-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium in November 2024. The match marked Niger’s first-ever victory over the Black Stars on Ghanaian soil, ending a 16-year unbeaten streak for the hosts at the venue.

Speaking to Accra-based Asempa FM, the 26-year-old Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih striker expressed his delight at the achievement.

“I was happy when we beat Ghana,” Sosah said. “Since I started playing for Niger, it has always been my dream to face Ghana.”

Sosah has been a standout performer for Niger in recent years. He showcased his attacking prowess by scoring two goals against Sudan in the penultimate AFCON qualifier, further solidifying his importance to the team.
