“I Hope Black Satellites Qualify for U-20 World Cup”- Kofi Adams
Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has expressed optimism ahead of the Black Satellites’ crucial quarterfinal clash against hosts Egypt in the ongoing 2025 TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The all-important encounter, scheduled for today at the New Suez Stadium, not only determines a semifinalist but also serves as a gateway to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup to be held in Chile later this year.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency lauded the performance of the Ghana U-20 national team so far and extended his best wishes for a successful outcome.
“The team has been good so far,” Adams said. “This U-20 team has been a good team, and I just pray that luck will be on their side so that we will be one of the teams to qualify for the U-20 World Cup in Chile, which will be played later part of the year.”
He added, “I wish them well, and I know they will do Ghana the honour.”
A victory over Egypt would not only put Ghana in contention for a record-extending fifth U-20 AFCON title but also seal qualification to the global showpiece, a feat last achieved by the Satellites in 2021.
Kickoff for the quarterfinal showdown is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
