The Ghana Division One League has once again been marred by hooliganism, just two weeks after the violent incident in Elmina involving True Democracy FC and Attram De Visser Academy.

The highly competitive encounter featured a missed penalty and a red card, with Attram De Visser securing a narrow 1-0 victory over True Democracy. However, the match’s aftermath descended into chaos as reports emerged of an orchestrated attack on the visiting team.

According to eyewitness accounts, angry True Democracy fans allegedly ambushed and pelted the Attram De Visser team bus with stones as they left the venue. The attack caused significant damage to the vehicle, and several players and staff sustained injuries in the process.

This latest act of hooliganism comes just days after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the return of the Ghana Premier League, which had been suspended following the tragic stabbing of Asante Kotoko fan Nana Pooley during their match against Nsoatreman FC.

The GFA has already introduced Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols to curb violence in Ghanaian football. However, this latest attack highlights the urgent need for stricter enforcement of security measures across all tiers of Ghanaian football.
