Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, described their 3-0 victory over Home Stars in the MTN FA Cup as a challenging encounter, particularly during the early stages of the match.

“The first half was very difficult for us,” Ouattara admitted, emphasizing his team’s initial struggles to assert control over the game.

Despite the early difficulties, the Phobians displayed their attacking prowess with a clinical performance. Mawuli Wayo opened the scoring with a composed finish, followed by Enoch Asubonteng’s well-executed strike to give Hearts a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime. Asamoah Boateng added the third goal in the second half, sealing the win and a spot in the next round of the competition.

Ouattara acknowledged the brief pressure his side faced at the start of the second half. “The first 15 minutes of the second half also brought some pressure to get the ball,” he noted, praising his defense for their composure and resilience.

Reflecting on the team’s overall performance, the coach expressed gratitude for the victory. “It is the knockout, and we thank God for this qualification,” he said.

With their attention now turning to their next Ghana Premier League match against defending champions Samartex, Ouattara emphasized the need to maintain focus and build on their current momentum. “Step by step, now our mind is on the next GPL match,” he concluded.

Hearts of Oak will aim to continue their strong form as they balance their FA Cup aspirations with their league campaign.
