Accra Hearts of Oak will lock horns with Heart of Lions in the Gbese Mantse Peace Cup on August 17 in Accra.

The Peace Cup, which serves as a blend of cultural celebration and competitive football, will see defending champions Hearts of Oak lock horns with Heart of Lions in what promises to be a spirited clash.

Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, emphasized the club’s enthusiasm for the fixture, stating that the Phobians will approach the game with full commitment as both a symbol of cultural reverence and sporting excellence.

“We will go out there on the 17th of August and do our best by making sure that at the end of the day, we go home with the trophy,” Opare Addo said. “Accra Hearts of Oak is proud to support that.”

The Phobians will be aiming to retain their title, while Heart of Lions are determined to put up a strong challenge and mark their presence in the prestigious event.

Heart of Lions administrator Stephen Botchwey expressed his side’s appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the festival and match.

“We see it as a great chance; first, to compete with our big brothers and second, to promote peace across the country,” he noted.

The Gbese Mantse Peace Cup has become a key fixture in the Homowo calendar, promoting unity through sport and reinforcing the connection between tradition and modern football.
