Hearts of Oak have firmly dismissed reports suggesting midfielder Hamza Issah’s contract has been terminated, insisting the player remains legally bound to the club.

In a strongly worded statement released on February 18, 2026, the Phobians stressed that no competent authority has ruled that Issah’s deal has been lawfully ended. The club cited bodies such as the Ghana Football Association Player Status Committee and FIFA, noting that none has issued a decision supporting claims of contract termination.

Hearts also refuted allegations that they had repeatedly failed to meet their financial obligations to the player in a manner that would justify unilateral termination under FIFA regulations. According to the club, they engaged Issah and his representatives in good faith on two occasions to resolve outstanding concerns.

“The club has not persistently defaulted on its obligations in a way that would warrant unilateral termination,” the statement indicated.

The club further criticised the circulation of confidential correspondence related to the case, describing the disclosure as “unprofessional and misleading.” Hearts of Oak also accused South African outfit Siwele FC of engaging the player and arranging travel without their knowledge or consent, despite the existence of an active contract.

Hearts labelled the alleged approach as inducement and unlawful interference, adding that formal complaints have been lodged with FIFA and other relevant authorities.

The club concluded by reaffirming its intention to pursue all legal and regulatory remedies to protect its interests as the matter unfolds.
