The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has outlined a proposed budget of GHS 146,268,659.80 to finance Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The figure, which translates to just under $14 million, is intended to cater for every operational requirement tied to the Black Stars’ participation at the global showpiece. It covers preparatory training camps, travel and accommodation logistics, player bonuses, remuneration for the technical team, and other tournament-related commitments.

According to the Ministry, the allocation reflects projections for a full tournament journey, based on the assumption that Ghana progresses through each stage of the competition.

Officials added that a comprehensive financial breakdown, including funding sources and expenditure details, will be made public as the team’s preparations gather momentum.

Before the Mundial kicks off, the Black Stars will take advantage of the March international window with friendly matches against Germany and Austria. A further preparatory fixture against Mexico is scheduled for May to fine-tune the squad ahead of the tournament.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L and will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17. They will then face England on June 23 before wrapping up their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.

Following back-to-back group-stage eliminations at recent World Cups, the Black Stars are determined to deliver an improved performance at the 2026 edition, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
