Presidential aspirant for the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Lawyer Richard Akpokavie, has made a firm commitment to complete the long-abandoned Olympic stadium project at Amasaman should he be elected into office later this month.

The Amasaman Olympic stadium project, intended to host a variety of sporting disciplines and serve as a hub for elite athlete development, has been stalled for years, with little progress to show.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Sportsnite, the respected sports administrator and legal practitioner gave his word to the Ghanaian sporting fraternity, stating that the completion of the multi-sport facility would be a key priority of his administration.

“I will complete the Olympic stadium at Amasaman if elected as Ghana Olympic Committee President. I can assure you of completing the edifice by the time my tenure ends,” Akpokavie declared.

Akpokavie, who is no stranger to the GOC  is hoping to leverage his experience and connections to bring tangible development to Ghana’s Olympic movement. He believes that completing the Amasaman project would not only enhance the country’s sports infrastructure but also boost Ghana’s preparations for international competitions.

His bold promise comes at a critical moment, with the GOC elections set to take place later this month. As campaigning heats up, Akpokavie’s pledge is expected to resonate with stakeholders eager for transformative leadership and long-overdue infrastructural development in Ghanaian sports.
