Ghana international Thomas Partey has won his first silverware with Arsenal FC after beating Manchester City FC to the Community shield.

Partey played an integral part in Mikel Arteta’s team on Sunday as they triumph over the Sky Blues on penalties following a 1-1 draw at the Wembley stadium.

The Black Stars midfielder who joined the Gunners from Spanish giant’s Atletico Madrid lasted the entire duration with some fantastic performance, having new signing Declan Rice beside him in the midfield role.

Cole Palmer opened the score for Manchester City in the 77th minute before a deflected effort from Leandro Trossard in added time ended up in the City net to restore parity for the Gunners.

Arsenal ended up winning 4:1 on penalty shootouts to give Arsenal the community shield trophy.

Partey’s exception performance has left many wondering as to why Arsenal were bent of offloading the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

He was heavily linked to a big-money move to Saudi Arabia with Juventus and AC Milan also showing interest.

Thomas Partey was exceptional for Arsenal before the latter part of last season, where his position was taken by Jorginho but seems to have reclaimed it if anything during pre-season is to go by.
