Ghanaian gold-medalist high jumper faces expulsion over unpaid tuition fees
Evans Cadman Yamoah won gold in African Games 2023
Ghanaian high jumper, Evans Cadman Yamoah is on the verge of dropping out from school due to his inability to pay tuition fee.
The 23-year-old who transferred from the University of Ghana in 2022 to University of Central Missouri in the United States of America won a gold medal for Ghana in the 2023 African Games which took place in Accra, Ghana.
Currently in his final year, Evans Cadman Yeboah’s scholarship has been taken away from him due to his NCAA scholarship eligibility expiring. The athlete needs to pay over over $15,000 for tuition.
According to him, he has reached out to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other state agencies to come to his rescue but to no avail.
“I have tried a lot of options, but the feedback has not been good,” he told Joy Sports.
“In the letter, I attached all the evidence as they requested I did, including my transcripts and fees portal information, but they never got back to me and have stopped responding to my messages. I also wrote to other state agencies, but none has responded to my email.” He said.
Evans Cadman Yeboah has therefore called on Ghanaians to come to his aid in order for him to successfully graduate.
“I am humbly asking for help from anyone who can help me, to please come to my aid to help me graduate. When I had the chance to represent the country, I did it with all my strength and my might. I gave my everything to bring smiles to the faces of Ghanaians by winning gold at the African Games.
“I am appealing to the President, the former President, private individuals and businesses, please help me graduate. I don’t want all my years of school to be wasted without my degree,” he appealed.
