The championship, staged on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, drew competitors from seven West African countries — Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, Niger, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso — all vying for top honours in the one-day event.

Team Ghana’s medals were claimed by three seasoned practitioners: Edmund Asante, Kpoti Jacobs, and Joseph Botchway.

  • Asante earned a silver medal in the Male Individual Kata (Seniors) category, underscoring his technical mastery and composure.

  • Jacobs delivered a strong showing to take silver in the Male Individual Kumite division.

  • Botchway added to the tally with a bronze medal in the Male Individual Kata (Juniors) category after an impressive display.

The performances of the trio highlight Ghana’s growing influence in regional karate and reflect the rising standards within the sport.

Under the leadership of Ghana Karate-Do Federation president Nathaniel Johnson, the country continues to invest in the development of karate, with a vision of establishing Ghana as a dominant force on the African stage.

With the momentum from this championship, Ghana’s karatekas appear well-positioned for even greater achievements in upcoming international competitions.
