Ghana Clinches Five Golds at All-African U-15 Badminton Championships
Ghana emerged the undisputed champions of the All-African U-15 Badminton Championships, claiming an impressive five gold medals and one silver in a commanding performance at the Ghana Grand Slam 2025, held at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.
The five-day tournament, which concluded on Tuesday, brought together elite junior athletes from 24 African countries, all competing for continental titles in a thrilling showcase of youth badminton excellence.
Host nation Ghana rose to the occasion, dominating across categories and establishing itself as a rising force in African badminton.
Leading Ghana’s charge was standout performer Obampo Adu-Mintah, who stunned fans and opponents alike by capturing four gold medals in an extraordinary individual showing.
Equally impressive was Moslena Ama Adu Koramah, the reigning U-15 national girls’ champion, who added three golds and one silver to Ghana’s medal tally.




The pair teamed up to win gold in the Mixed Doubles event, thrilling the crowd with a commanding performance.
In the Boys’ Singles final, top-seeded Adu-Mintah overpowered South Africa’s Aiden Dednam in straight sets (2-0), sealing the title in just 23 minutes.
Koramah followed suit in the Girls’ Singles, edging Algeria’s Chiraz Halimi 2-1 in a nail-biting final to take home the gold.
Ghana’s clean sweep continued in the Team Relay, Boys’ Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, cementing the country’s status as the standout performer of the tournament.
Evans Yeboah, President of the Ghana Badminton Federation, praised the athletes for their historic achievement and urged them to maintain their focus for future international competitions.
Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, served as the event’s special guest and commended the young shuttlers for their discipline, resilience, and skill. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth sports development and promised further investment in badminton through the upcoming Sports Fund initiative.
Ghana’s performance at the 2025 All-African U-15 Badminton Championships is a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward becoming a continental powerhouse in the sport.
