Ghana Athletics President Bawah Fuseini has announced plans to introduce a National Inter-Schools Championships, following the success of the recent Regional Super Zonals in the Central and Ashanti Regions.

The highly competitive events, held in Cape Coast and Kumasi, saw outstanding performances from top schools like Mfantsipim School and Prempeh College, whose athletes dominated various track and field competitions.

The impressive level of competition has fueled growing calls for a national-level event to further develop young talents.

Speaking to JoySports, Bawah Fuseini confirmed that discussions are already underway with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to organize the championship, which could take place in Kumasi or Cape Coast.

“Just imagine the excitement from the Ashanti Region and Cape Coast—if we bring all these athletes together for a National Inter-Schools Championship, the atmosphere will be incredible,” Fuseini stated.

“I have met with the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, and we are working towards organizing this event. The goal is to bring together the best-performing schools from the Super Zonals and create a pathway for them to compete at the African level,” he added.

The proposed National Inter-Schools Championships is expected to provide a platform for young Ghanaian athletes to showcase their talents, gain national exposure, and prepare for international competitions.
