GFA’s Nana Sarfo Oduro Explains Kurt Okraku’s Silence Amid Kotoko Fan Tragedy
Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Sarfo Oduro has addressed the absence of GFA President Kurt Okraku following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong.
Okraku, who has been criticized for his silence in the aftermath of the incident, is currently receiving medical treatment abroad, which has limited his ability to publicly comment or visit the club.
Speaking during a meeting between a GFA delegation and Asante Kotoko’s leadership, Sarfo Oduro clarified why Okraku has not made a public statement.
“Since the incident occurred, he has not spoken publicly. The reason is that Kurt is not feeling well and is currently not in the country. If he was well, he would have been the first to visit Kotoko’s camp. Once he recovers and returns safely, he will be here,” he explained.
The meeting marked the first direct engagement between the GFA and Kotoko since the violent incident involving Nsoatreman FC, which resulted in the fatal stabbing of a Kotoko supporter.
