President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has revealed that each Ghana Premier League club will receive a minimum of GHC 1 million ahead of the 2025/26 season as part of a new broadcast partnership.

This major development comes through a tripartite collaboration involving the GFA, the Government of Ghana—represented by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah—and broadcast rights holders Adesa Productions. The deal was officially launched on Thursday, August 31, 2025, in Accra.

“Through this unique partnership with Adesa Productions, each one of our GPL clubs will, before of the start of the league season, receive the amount of a million Ghana cedis each,” Okraku said.

He emphasized the transformative nature of the arrangement, adding, “This will be made possible through the new partnership. This will be our minimum payment for each of our GPL clubs under our new model.”

Okraku also clarified the financial structure behind the initiative, stressing that it is a firm, binding agreement among all parties involved.

“This is not a grant, it is a firm commitment by the Football Association, by Adesa Productions and by the government,” he stated.

The announcement ends recent speculation about the return of former broadcasters StarTimes to Ghana’s top-flight league and instead sets a new financial benchmark for club support ahead of the season.

The deal is expected to enhance the competitiveness of the domestic league, boost club operations, and improve the overall standard of football in Ghana.
