Francis Amuzu Expresses Readiness to Represent Ghana After World Cup Qualification
Gremio forward Francis Amuzu has declared his openness to playing for the Black Stars, saying he feels ready to don the national colours following Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Brazilian-based winger, who previously opted to represent Belgium at youth level, has now signaled a change of heart and expressed pride in his Ghanaian roots.
“For me, I’m a Ghanaian, I was born in Ghana, so I’m happy that they qualified for the World Cup. It’s a wonderful tournament also to play, one of the biggest tournaments in the world,” Amuzu told reporters.
The former Anderlecht star explained that while his current focus remains on delivering consistent performances for his club, the prospect of playing for Ghana is something he deeply cherishes.
“To be honest, at the moment my heart is really with Ghana. If Ghana comes, for sure I will go and I hope they can call me,” he said. “But now my focus is just here at Grêmio to try and perform every game and then in the future we’ll see what happens.”
Amuzu’s remarks come at a time when several foreign-born players of Ghanaian descent have expressed interest in joining Otto Addo’s squad following the Black Stars’ successful qualification campaign.
