Evans Adotey Steps Down From Head Coach Role at Basake Holy Stars

Basake Holy Stars have been dealt a major technical blow as head coach Augustine Evans Adotey has resigned from his post, bringing an early end to his tenure after a disappointing run of results in the Ghana Premier League.

The club has endured a tough opening to the season, with Adotey overseeing just one victory, accompanied by three draws and six defeats. The poor run has left the newly promoted club struggling to find its rhythm in the top flight.

After ten matches, Holy Stars have accumulated only six points, placing them firmly in the relegation zone—a position that has increased pressure from supporters and the club’s management.

Adotey, who joined the club on a three-year contract earlier this year, was brought in to replace Abdulai Gazale, who exited in June to become the assistant coach of Hearts of Oak. Expectations were high given Adotey’s extensive coaching experience, especially his successes with Medeama.

However, the team continued to falter under his guidance, and the lack of improvement eventually led to his decision to step aside. The resignation marks a premature end to a project that both parties had hoped would bring stability and top-flight survival.

Holy Stars are now expected to begin the search for a new head coach as they look to revive their season and escape the drop zone.
