Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has urged stakeholders in Ghanaian football to raise the standard of playing surfaces across the country, following his side’s recent triumph over Young Apostles.

The Phobians secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory on April 5 at the Accra Sports Stadium, a venue that has recently gained recognition for its improved pitch quality amid ongoing concerns about playing conditions in the domestic league.

While several league centres continue to face criticism over poor surfaces, the Accra Sports Stadium has stood out for its consistency and maintenance, earning admiration from players and coaches alike.

Dramani, clearly impressed after the match, highlighted the importance of quality pitches in enhancing the standard of play and called for similar conditions nationwide.

“The Accra sports stadium has the best pitch in Ghana. If you are a good football-loving person, you want to play on a very good pitch, a good pitch like this, so that you can pass the ball.

“Those days, if we are going to play in a Accra Sports stadium, we have to go to a small grass place, just to train on it because you know you are going to play on the grass. This is the best pitch that you can have in Ghana.

“If you have the chance to play matches here, you can always do your best, and then you have the pitch on your side, and I hope all our pitches in Ghana become like this.”

The victory has strengthened Hearts of Oak’s position in the Ghana Premier League standings, lifting them to third place on 46 points. With the title race tightening, the Phobians remain within touching distance of leaders Bibiani Gold Stars as the season approaches its decisive phase.
