Dreams FC head coach Wilfred Dormon was left frustrated after watching his side surrender a two-goal advantage to lose 3-2 against Bibiani Gold Stars in a dramatic Ghana Premier League encounter on Sunday.

The visitors appeared in full control at Dun’s Park after a blistering start saw Salifu strike inside six minutes before doubling the advantage in the 20th minute, handing Dreams FC a commanding lead heading into the break.

However, the contest swung after the interval as the defending champions raised the tempo and Dreams FC were forced onto the back foot. Gold Stars pulled one back in the 74th minute before restoring parity late on, piling pressure on a stretched Dreams defence.

Dormon pointed to a pivotal moment that changed the complexion of the game, admitting his side lost their structure at a critical stage.

“It was a decent game. We started the game very high and managed to close the first half. In the second half, we did some tactical adjustment and our opponent also made some changes to their play. My disappointment was the red card, it really affected us. We didn’t defend well, we lost our shape and lost our discipline and conceded a late goal.”

The decisive blow came deep into stoppage time as Gold Stars completed the comeback, sparking celebrations among the home fans and ensuring they stayed fifth on the table with 20 points.

Despite the painful outcome, Dormon felt his players deserved more from the contest based on their overall performance.

“I’m impressed with my boys’ performance but very disappointed with the results. To be fair, on the balance of play, at least we deserve something from this game. We were unlucky, they took their moment and won the match.”

The defeat compounds Dreams FC’s struggles away from home this season, with the club still searching for their first road victory. The result leaves them languishing in 15th place on the league table.

Dreams FC will now aim to regroup when they return home to face Basake Holy Stars, while Bibiani Gold Stars turn their attention to a tough upcoming fixture against second-placed Medeama SC as coach Fritz Markus Schmid looks to build momentum with back-to-back wins.
