KRC Genk winger Christopher Baah Bonsu has expressed his excitement and pride after earning his first-ever call-up to the Black Stars, following his participation in the recently concluded Unity Cup in the United Kingdom.

The 19-year-old made the 23-man squad selected by head coach Otto Addo for the four-nation mini-tournament, where Ghana claimed third place after a commanding 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place playoff last week.

Although Bonsu did not score during the matches against Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago, his lively displays and attacking flair were among the positives from the tournament. His contributions added depth to Ghana’s attacking options and offered a glimpse of his potential at the international level.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM, the promising winger could not hide his joy at receiving his maiden national team invitation.

t was a great feeling getting call-up into the national team. The call-up means a lot to me as a young player. Ghana is blessed with so many talents, so to make the recent squad means I am doing something good,” he said.

Baah Bonsu, who has been turning heads with his performances in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, appears to have made a strong impression on the Black Stars technical team. His dribbling, pace, and directness brought a fresh dimension to Ghana’s attack during the Unity Cup.

His showing has increased his chances of being included in the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which resume in September.
