Black Queens forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah says the team is in high spirits and fully motivated as they prepare to take on Egypt in the first leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier in Suez.

The 2024 WAFCON bronze medalists wrapped up their final training session on Wednesday in Ismailia, under the guidance of head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, as they set their sights on securing a strong result away from home.

The upcoming fixture marks Ghana’s first competitive outing since their impressive third-place finish at the WAFCON in Morocco earlier this year.

Speaking ahead of the game, Boye-Hlorkah expressed her joy at reuniting with her teammates and praised the team’s mood in camp.

“So, it’s been two months since we had the WAFCON, now we’re back together in preparation for the Egypt game. It’s been good to see everyone’s face again, get the group back together and had some good sessions,” she said.

The Nottingham Forest forward, who made a strong impression during the 2024 WAFCON, believes Ghanaian fans can expect a display of passion and teamwork from the squad.

“I think what the fans can expect from us [is] good energy, determination and to see the togetherness that we brought together from the AFCON,” she added.

Boye-Hlorkah, 30, who switched allegiance to represent Ghana at international level, joined Nottingham Forest Women in the summer following her outstanding performances for the Black Queens. She has already made an impact in England’s Women’s Super League 2, scoring twice for the Reds this season.

The Black Queens will face Egypt in Suez before returning to Accra for the decisive second leg, as they look to book their place at WAFCON 2026.
