Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has praised the commitment and determination of his players despite Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the outcome as a painful one after the team’s spirited display.

Ghana’s World Cup journey came to an end following a narrow defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32, bringing the Black Stars’ encouraging campaign to a close.

Although disappointed with the result, Queiroz was quick to commend his players for the effort they produced throughout the contest, insisting they gave everything on the pitch.

“It’s a disappointing result. It’s disappointing because the boys worked hard,” the Portuguese coach said after the final whistle.

The veteran tactician noted that the players remained committed to the game plan from start to finish and deserved credit for their resilience against a strong Colombian side.

Despite the disappointment of falling at the Round of 32 stage, the Ghana coach believes the tournament showcased the character and fighting spirit within his squad.

The Black Stars now turn their attention to future assignments, including the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where Queiroz will hope to build on the progress made during the World Cup campaign.
