The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially approved the Accra Sports Stadium to host matches in the 2025/26 CAF inter-club competitions.

With the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi currently undergoing renovation, Ghana’s representatives — Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars — will stage their home fixtures in the capital.

In the preliminary rounds, Asante Kotoko, winners of the 2025 FA Cup, will face Nigerian side Kwara United. The first leg is scheduled between September 19 and 21, 2025 in Accra, with the return leg to follow in Nigeria from September 26 to 28.

Bibiani GoldStars, making their maiden appearance in the CAF Champions League after winning the 2025 Ghana Premier League, will take on Algerian giants JS Kabylie. The Ghanaian champions will host the first leg in Accra between September 19 and 21, before travelling to Algeria for the decisive second leg from September 26 to 28.

According to CAF’s release, the Accra Sports Stadium remains the only venue in Ghana approved for the upcoming competitions. Although it “is still not fully up to standards,” the facility has been granted temporary clearance to host the preliminary stages of both the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League in September.
