Black Stars Squad to Be Announced by End of Week – GFA
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will officially unveil the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers by the end of this week, according to the association’s communications director, Henry Asante Twum.
With Ghana set to face Chad and Madagascar in crucial qualifiers, anticipation is high as fans await the list of players who will be called up.
“Luckily, we have exhausted all these processes, so we are sure that by the close of this week, the coach will announce the team,” Twum confirmed in an interview.
He also explained the minor delay in the announcement, stating that the technical team prefers to wait until the weekend matches are completed to ensure no key players pick up injuries before the final selection.
“Sometimes, around this time, what results in one or two delays is the fact that the players have weekend matches. Many coaches prefer to wait until the matches are over so that if no one gets injured, we can have positive news before the boys come in,” he added.
The Black Stars currently sit joint top of Group I with Comoros, both teams having secured 9 points from their opening four matches. With momentum on their side, Ghana will be looking to extend their lead and edge closer to securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
