Ghana U-17 national football team have started preparations in Samreboi as they intensify training ahead of two friendly matches against FC Samartex 1996 this weekend.

The young national side held their opening training session on Thursday at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena as part of their build-up to the upcoming 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Morocco next month.

The training session gave head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and his assistant Nana Kweku Agyemang another opportunity to closely evaluate the players as they continue shaping the squad for the continental tournament.

As part of their preparations, the Black Starlets will play two friendly matches against Samartex over the weekend. The first encounter will see them face the club’s youth team on Saturday, March 14 at 16:00 GMT.

The following day, Sunday March 15, the Starlets will return to the same venue to test themselves against the Samartex senior side, also scheduled for a 16:00 GMT kickoff.

The friendly fixtures add to a series of encouraging performances recorded by the team in Accra in recent weeks, where they secured wins over Attram De Visser Academy, Semper Fi FC, and Port City FC.

The technical team continues to use these games to fine-tune tactical approaches, experiment with player combinations, and improve the squad’s overall match fitness.

With the U-17 continental championship fast approaching, the Black Starlets remain fully focused in camp as they aim to make a strong impression and secure qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
