Black Starlets Deputy Captain Ernest Ofori Confident Ahead of Ivory Coast Clash
Deputy skipper of the Black Starlets, Ernest Ofori, has expressed confidence that Ghana is well prepared to face hosts Ivory Coast in their second Group A game of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Cup of Nations in Yamoussoukro.
The Starlets began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Togo, a result that left the team eager to respond positively when they step out against the Ivorians on Tuesday, September 23.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Ofori assured Ghanaians that the squad had shaken off the disappointment of their opening fixture and were ready to raise their performance.
“We’re fully prepared for Ivory Coast,” he stated. “We know what is at stake, and we’ve worked hard in training to put ourselves in a good position to win. All we will need to do is to be tactically disciplined, and the job against Ivory Coast will be easier.”
Ivory Coast go into the contest on top of Group A following their 2-0 victory over Niger in the tournament opener. Ghana, however, could leapfrog them with a win, strengthening their hopes of advancing to the knockout stage before their final group match on Friday, September 26.
Kickoff for the much-anticipated clash is scheduled for 18:00 GMT at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
