Ghana’s Black Starlets continued their build-up to the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-earned friendly victory over Division One League leaders Port City, thanks to an early goal from captain Joseph Narbi.

The skipper wasted no time in making his mark, finishing off a slick passing move within minutes of kickoff to hand the young Ghanaian side a crucial lead. That goal ultimately separated the two teams in a contest that offered the Starlets a stern test of their organisation and resilience.

Port City, currently topping Zone Three of the Division One League, lived up to their billing with an energetic display, pressing high and forcing the national side to stay compact and disciplined. Their intensity ensured the Starlets had to dig deep defensively while looking to manage the tempo of the game.

The encounter forms part of Ghana’s structured preparation programme ahead of the continental showpiece in Morocco in April, with the technical team keen to expose the players to high-level opposition before the tournament.

As part of the day’s schedule, the Starlets are also set to face Semper Fi in another friendly, allowing the coaches to rotate the squad and assess options across all departments as they fine-tune preparations for the AFCON campaign.
