The Black Queens of Ghana have slipped one place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, moving from 66th to 67th globally despite an encouraging showing at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The updated rankings, published by FIFA on Thursday, August 7, reflect performances from recent international competitions, including continental championships such as WAFCON.

While Ghana experienced a slight decline on the global table, they maintained their 6th place ranking in Africa, reaffirming their status as one of the continent’s top women’s football nations.

The drop comes in spite of a solid campaign at the just-concluded WAFCON in Morocco, where the Black Queens overcame a rocky start to claim the bronze medal — their first podium finish since 2016.

With the bronze medal secured, attention now turns to upcoming qualifiers for the next WAFCON edition. The Black Queens are expected to continue their rebuild and improve their international standing as they aim for future success both on the continent and the global stage.
