The senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have landed in Cote d’Ivoire as part of their final preparations for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which is scheduled to be held in Morocco this July.

The team arrived in Abidjan on Wednesday afternoon and are set to play two international friendly matches against the Ivorian national women’s team during their stay.

Led by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, the Black Queens are using the friendlies as a crucial part of their build-up to the continental tournament. The Swedish trainer has assembled a strong squad for the trip, aiming to fine-tune tactics and assess player readiness ahead of the delayed WAFCON competition.

The Black Queens are eyeing a successful campaign at the 2024 WAFCON as they seek to reclaim their place among Africa’s elite women’s football teams. Their training camp and friendly matches in Cote d’Ivoire will be critical in sharpening the team’s cohesion and competitiveness ahead of the prestigious tournament.
