Black Princesses Fall 3-0 to Nigeria in WAFU B U20 Girls Cup Final Group Match
Ghana’s Black Princesses suffered a 3-0 defeat to rivals Nigeria’s Falconets in their final group game of the 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls Cup, ending the competition as runners-up.
Despite a bright start that saw Ghana create early opportunities, the team failed to make them count, allowing the Falconets to seize control of the encounter.
Janet Akeremkowei opened the scoring for Nigeria with a powerful free kick in the 15th minute. The Falconets doubled their lead just eight minutes later through Alaba Olabiyi, whose composed finish left Ghana’s goalkeeper with no chance. A late third goal sealed a comprehensive victory for Nigeria, who maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament.
The result means Ghana finished the campaign with two wins — both against Benin — and two defeats, both coming at the hands of Nigeria.
