Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has shared his thoughts on his side’s slim 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak in their Ghana Premier League Week 31 encounter on Sunday.

The game, held at the Golden City Park, saw the Phobians bring an end to Chelsea’s impressive ten-match unbeaten home run. Mawuli Wayo netted the only goal of the game in the 56th minute, ensuring all three points went to the visitors in what was a tightly contested affair.

Speaking after the match, Boadu, who previously guided Hearts of Oak to domestic glory, expressed disappointment in the outcome but admitted that his team would learn from their mistakes.

“The result is not the true reflection of the match. It’s quite unfortunate. The goal we conceded is unpardonable,” Boadu told reporters post-match. “It’s football, there is nothing that we can do. We did our best to come back but it didn’t happen. We’ve realized our mistakes and will go back and work on them.”

The defeat not only halted Chelsea’s unbeaten home form but also marked Boadu’s third consecutive loss to his former employers, Hearts of Oak, since taking charge of Berekum Chelsea.

The Phobians have now extended their dominance over Chelsea, maintaining an unbeaten streak that stretches back to 2019, with Chelsea’s last win over the Accra giants coming more than five years ago.

The result is a setback for Berekum Chelsea in their bid to finish the season strongly, while Hearts of Oak continue to climb the table, consolidating their position in the top half with just a few rounds remaining.
