Augustina Baidoo Reclaims Sheroes GTTA Title, Calls for Stronger Support for Women’s Table Tennis
Augustina Baidoo has once again stamped her authority on Ghanaian table tennis, emerging as the champion of the 2026 Sheroes Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Championship after an impressive run through the competition.
The experienced player, who also won the title in 2023, overcame a competitive field to secure top honours, with Eva Adom-Amankwa finishing second, while Cynthia Kwabi and Joanita Borteye shared the third-place spot.
Reacting to her triumph, Baidoo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete and credited her success to faith and hard work.
“I thank the Almighty God for making me win this game again, I was the champion in 2023 and in 2026 I won again,” she told the Ghana News Agency.
The champion also used the moment to highlight the need for increased investment in the sport, appealing for stronger backing for the Ghana Table Tennis Association to raise standards and expand competitions. She revealed that she is already preparing for the upcoming Table Tennis World Cup.
Baidoo explained that she intensified her preparations following the postponement of the event, determined to successfully defend her crown.
“I trained very hard because the association was supposed to organise this competition long ago but it was postponed, I wanted to defend my title and I thank my brother for training me,” she added.
