Asante Kotoko have confirmed the capture of highly-rated defender Musah Hamzata as part of their squad reinforcement ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 22-year-old centre-back joins the Porcupine Warriors on a three-year contract after completing medicals and finalizing terms with the Kumasi-based giants.

In an official club statement, Kotoko described Hamzata as a player who will add steel and balance to their defensive unit:

“Asante Kotoko is pleased to announce the signing of towering defender Musah Hamzata on a three-year deal, following the successful completion of his medical. The 22-year-old joins from Accra Lions, where he made nearly 50 league appearances, scoring three goals and providing two assists. Standing at 1.92m, Hamzata brings height, composure, and aerial strength to our backline.”

Hamzata, who developed his reputation at Accra Lions, has been widely praised for his aerial dominance, composure under pressure, and ability to contribute in possession. His versatility and ball-playing confidence make him a key addition to Kotoko’s rebuilding project.

The defender expressed excitement about the move, describing it as a dream opportunity:

“This is a huge step for me, and I’m grateful for the chance to wear the Kotoko shirt. I know the expectations here are very high, but I’m ready for the challenge. I want to improve as a player, help the team win trophies, and prove that I can be one of the best defenders in the league.”

He has already joined his new teammates in camp as the Porcupine Warriors prepare for the 2025 Super Cup showdown against Bibiani GoldStars later this month.
