Asante Kotoko Draw Kwara United in CAF Confederation Cup First Preliminary Round
Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko will take on Nigerian side Kwara United in the first preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors earned their place in the competition after winning the Ghana FA Cup last season, edging lower-tier side Golden Kick FC 2-1 in the final.
Kwara United, established 28 years ago, have experienced stints both in and out of the Nigerian top-flight but have maintained their league status since 2019. The club previously featured in the Confederation Cup in 2022 and secured their latest ticket to the tournament after defeating Abaliki FC on penalties in the Nigerian FA Cup final.

The winner of this clash will set up a second preliminary round meeting with Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club.
The first leg between Kotoko and Kwara United is scheduled for the weekend of September 19-21, 2025, with the return fixture taking place between September 26-28, 2025.
Asante Kotoko will be aiming to make a strong start in their continental campaign as they seek to go deep in Africa’s second-tier club competition.
