Asante Kotoko Confident of Hosting Legon Cities at Baba Yara Stadium Despite Safety Concerns
Asante Kotoko remain optimistic about playing their upcoming Ghana Premier League fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium, despite reports suggesting the venue has been deemed unfit for use following recent safety and security assessments.
The Baba Yara Stadium was reportedly listed among several venues that failed to meet the required safety and security standards in the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) latest stadium inspection exercise.
However, Kotoko remain focused on their preparation for the match, operating under the assumption that their home ground will still be available.
A club source, speaking to Akoma Sports, dismissed concerns over a possible stadium ban, emphasizing that the club has not received any official communication regarding the issue.
“We are not aware of this news. We are preparing to host Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, and that is where our focus is,” the source stated.
The Ghana Premier League, which was placed on an indefinite break due to security concerns following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Frimpong Pooley, is set to resume with Matchday 23 from March 7 to March 10, 2025.
