Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has thrown himself firmly into the race for the Ghana Premier League Golden Boot after netting a sensational hat-trick in his side’s 3-1 comeback victory over Medeama SC last weekend.

The 21-year-old was in unstoppable form, producing a clinical display to lead the Porcupine Warriors from behind and secure a vital three points in their penultimate game of the 2024/25 campaign.

Medeama opened the scoring early, but Amoah levelled the tie in the 23rd minute with a composed strike from the penalty spot. He followed up with a deft near-post header in the 40th minute to put Kotoko 2-1 ahead heading into the break. The electric forward completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute, again with a powerful header that sealed the win and took his season tally to 12 goals.

With this latest performance, Amoah has now closed the gap on Berekum Chelsea’s Stephen Amankona, who leads the top scorer chart with 15 goals.

After the match, Amoah shared his optimism about his chances of clinching the Golden Boot.

“It’s not too late — everything is possible,” he said.
“I scored a hat-trick against Accra Great Olympics, and now today too. So now, I have two hat-trick balls at home.”

Amoah’s timely surge in form will be crucial as Kotoko wrap up their season with a final away clash against Vision FC.
