Agyemang-Badu rallies support for Otto Addo
Former Black Stars player, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has asked Ghanaians to support Black Stars head coach Otto Addo despite the poor results.
The Black Stars of Ghana are on the verge of not qualifying for the 2025 African Cup of Nations earmarked to take place in Morocco.
The four-time champions just have two points after four games in the qualifiers. They recently drew to Sudan at home and went on to lose to the same opponent in faraway Libya.
However, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu says Otto Addo needs to be supported.
“I’ve supported him [Otto Addo] since the World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria. He’s been consistently involved with the national team and knows the landscape very well,” the former Udinese star told Flashscore in an interview.
“When he was appointed, I thought, He’s one of us – let’s back him fully and provide all the support we can to build something of our own. When the team was depleted before the game against Nigeria, he stepped in and took charge. Though he didn’t secure any wins, he managed to lead the country to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
“He was given a four-year contract to build a strong team for us. At this stage, it’s challenging for the coach alone – he needs everyone’s support,” he added.
Ghana will face Niger in the final game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18. Before that, they will lock horns against group leaders Angola.
