Accra Lions and Heart of Lions Play Out Entertaining Goalless Draw
Accra Lions and Heart of Lions settled for a 0-0 stalemate in a lively encounter at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Both teams displayed attacking intent but ultimately lacked the finishing touch to break the deadlock.
The home side began brightly, creating early chances that tested Heart of Lions’ defense. Defender Baba Apiiga fired a powerful free-kick that forced a fingertip save from goalkeeper Lawrence Osei.
Heart of Lions soon found their rhythm, taking control of possession and pushing forward. Kwadjo Obeng Jr threatened twice for the visitors, with one long-range effort deflected for a corner midway through the first half.
The second half saw both teams searching for the opener. Accra Lions came close when Blessing Asuman’s effort forced another save from Osei.
Heart of Lions had the best chance of the game in the 65th minute, but forward Bismark Anim failed to capitalize on a one-on-one opportunity as Accra Lions goalkeeper Daniel Afful rushed out to deny him.
