“A lot of pride and joy” – Marvin Senaya reacts to his first Black Stars call-up
Marvin Senaya has expressed his delight after earning his first invitation to the Ghana national football team, but his international future remains uncertain amid interest from Togo national football team.
The AJ Auxerre defender has been named in Ghana’s squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Reacting to the call-up, Senaya shared his emotions, describing the moment as deeply meaningful.
“A lot of pride and joy,” Senaya said after receiving the call-up.
However, the situation has taken a complex turn, with Togo also naming the 25-year-old in their squad for matches against Guinea national football team and Niger national football team.
Togo head coach Patrice Neveu has claimed the player had already indicated his willingness to represent his side, suggesting a prior verbal commitment to join their camp.
This has placed Senaya at the centre of a developing international dilemma, with both nations keen to secure his allegiance.
For Ghana, his inclusion is part of a broader effort by head coach Otto Addo to reinforce the right-back position, an area that has lacked long-term stability in recent years.
