Sports Ministry Cancels Winning Bonuses to Management Members of National Teams
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has cancelled a proposed $10,000 bonus package earmarked by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for Black Stars management officials ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali.
The decision, announced on Tuesday September 2, 2025 in a press briefing by Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams follows deliberations between the Ministry and the GFA regarding expenditure priorities for the national team’s upcoming fixtures.
“The Sports Ministry has decided not to pay winning bonuses to the management team members of the national teams” Kofi Adams stated.
The Black Stars are currently preparing for the World Cup qualifiers, where they will first travel to play Chad on Thursday before traveling back to face Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Both fixtures are seen as pivotal to Ghana’s ambition of securing a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
