The excitement surrounding the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup is building as the preliminary round draw was officially conducted on Thursday at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Headquarters in Accra.

A total of ninety-two (92) clubs from the Division One and Division Two Leagues have learned their opponents, marking the official kickoff of Ghana’s most celebrated knockout football competition, set to begin later this month.

Last season’s finalists, Golden Kick SC, have been handed a challenging opening tie against Attram de Visser Academy — a clash that promises skillful football and attacking flair from both sides.

In Group A, the northern zone will see several captivating fixtures. Tamale City will hit the road to face Bolga All Stars, while Wa Power SC host Northern City FC in a regional showdown expected to attract strong local attention. Victory Club Warriors will also lock horns with Steadfast FC in another encounter that is generating significant anticipation.

Over in Group B, the battle for progression intensifies with Berekum Arsenal set to welcome Bectero Sasana. Thoughts FC will take on Debibi United, and PAC Academy travel to face KAC Soccer Academy, with all three fixtures shaping up to be tightly contested.

Fans in the Western Zone will also be treated to thrilling encounters as Sekondi XI Wise prepare to host Skyy FC, and Sekondi Rospak face Elmina Sharks in Tarkwa — a game many have tipped as one of the standout fixtures of the round.

In the southern sector, Inter Allies will take on the promising Right to Dream Academy, while Okwahu United travel to meet Shalom FC. Meanwhile, WAFA (West Africa Football Academy) will kick off their campaign at home against Nadom FC.

The draw was conducted with consideration for zonal and geographical proximity, an approach designed to minimize travel challenges and promote balanced competition across the regions.

The preliminary round matches are scheduled to take place between October 24 and 27, 2025. Victorious teams from this stage will advance to the Round of 64, where they will be joined by all 18 Ghana Premier League clubs.

As always, the MTN FA Cup promises drama, passion, and the possibility of upsets — offering lower-division clubs a golden opportunity to challenge some of the nation’s biggest football names in their pursuit of glory.
