Former Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has stated that Moroccan giants Wydad AC possess superior player quality compared to Asante Kotoko, urging Ghanaians to acknowledge the difference between the two clubs.

Manso’s remarks come in the wake of Kotoko’s 1–0 home defeat to Wydad in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup playoff at the Accra Sports Stadium, a result that leaves the Porcupine Warriors with a difficult task ahead of the return leg in Morocco.

Speaking on Adom TV’s “Fire for Fire” program on October 22, 2025, the experienced tactician noted that while Kotoko remain one of the biggest clubs in Ghana and Africa, Wydad’s squad depth and technical proficiency give them an edge in continental competitions.

“Wydad AC is ahead of Asante Kotoko in terms of player quality, and we should accept that,” he said.

He emphasized that while Kotoko have shown promise, they must focus on long-term investment in player development and recruitment to compete with North African powerhouses.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to face Wydad again in Casablanca on Friday, October 24, 2025, in what promises to be a decisive fixture for their continental ambitions.
