“Win the League and Return to African Glory”- Kotoko Board Chairman to Eric Tinkler
Asante Kotoko Board Chairman James Osei Brown has laid out ambitious expectations for newly appointed head coach Eric Tinkler, tasking the experienced South African with delivering the Ghana Premier League title and restoring the club’s presence among Africa’s elite.
Tinkler was unveiled as the Porcupine Warriors’ new head coach on a long-term contract as the club prepares for the 2026/27 campaign, marking the beginning of a new era in Kumasi.
Addressing the former Orlando Pirates boss during his official introduction, Brown made it clear that the club’s immediate objective is to reclaim domestic supremacy before making a strong impression in continental football.
“The expectation is that we want you to win us the league and then take us to the African Cup (Champions League) where all of us want us to be,” Brown said.
The Kotoko chairman also assured Tinkler that he would have the backing of the club’s leadership as he begins work.
“You have our full support,” he added.
Tinkler arrives in Ghana with a wealth of coaching experience earned across some of South Africa’s biggest clubs, including Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Cape Town City, Maritzburg United and Bidvest Wits.
